Happy 24 Years Babe

For our 24th wedding anniversary, we headed back to one of our favorite cabins in Blue Ridge for a week of mountain views, good food, and time together. There’s something about being at the cabin that makes it easier to slow down and enjoy the little things—and that’s exactly what we did.

A lot of our week revolved around cooking, which is one of our favorite things to do together. We Doug made homemade focaccia and pasta, enjoyed crab and steak, and cooked up potato soup, to name a few. We ate well all week, with plenty of good wine to go along with it. Having the time to make a meal together and then sit down and enjoy it without being in a rush was a treat in itself.

We took several hikes around Lake Blue Ridge and spent time back at the cabin playing checkers and shuffleboard. Ziggy had his own entertainment, happily chasing his remote-control car around the yard. Watching him have so much fun was entertainment for us, too! Doug put together a Lego car set and I enjoyed writing.

We spent aftetnoons and evenings sitting around the outdoor firepit, enjoyed the cozy indoor fireplace, and watched movies when we felt like doing absolutely nothing. We also made plenty of time for relaxing in the hot tub with a beer. There was a little adventure, a lot of relaxing, and no shortage of things to enjoy right where we were.

But the best part of the whole week was simply being together. After 24 years of marriage, getting away from our everyday routines and having this time for just us meant so much. And we were glad Ziggy blessed us with his presence.

Happy 24th anniversary to us. I love you, Doug, and I’m so glad we got to add another week of Blue Ridge memories to our life together. ❤️
